• IndiaAI Mission was approved in March 2024 with an outlay of ₹10,371 crore over five years to build a comprehensive AI ecosystem; it has seven pillars — IndiaAI Compute, Foundation Models, AIKosh, Application Development Initiative, FutureSkills, Startup Financing and Safe & Trusted AI
• Compute & models: 15 compute providers empanelled, 237 projects supported, 93 lakh GPU hours sanctioned; 20 indigenous sovereign model proposals identified (12 LLMs, 8 SLMs) — e.g., Sarvam AI (30B & 105B), Gnani.AI speech-to-speech, BharatGen multilingual, Avataar AI video model
• Talent & infrastructure: 686 fellowships across 178 institutions; YUVA AI for All completed by 26 lakh+ people; 27 India Data & AI Labs set up (188 more ongoing); 58 AI Centres of Excellence being established with States/UTs
• Safe & Trusted AI pillar promotes responsible development via indigenous governance frameworks, standards and evaluation tools; 13 Responsible AI projects approved covering bias mitigation, machine unlearning, privacy-preserving AI, explainability, deepfake detection and AI risk assessment
