Public Consultations on Budget, NEP, Data Protection and Aadhaar Reforms Bring Citizens Closer to Policy Making

📌 Summary:

• MyGov, GoI's citizen-engagement platform, now has 6.32 crore registered citizens (as on 10.07.2026); 4.48 crore of these registered in the last five years (2021–2026)
• Over five years it hosted 180 Discussions (7.77 lakh participants), 15 Polls (30.39 lakh participants) and 56 Surveys (3.57 lakh participants)
• Recent public consultations include NEP-2020, Digital Personal Data Protection Bill-2022 & Draft DPDP Rules-2025, Union Budget consultations, draft amendments to the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance Rules-2020, NTA exam-process reforms, Draft Data Centre Policy-2020, Draft Textiles Policy-2020 and the 8th Central Pay Commission memorandum
• Consultations are owned by the respective Ministries/Departments; MyGov compiles and forwards citizen inputs, but final acceptance into policy remains the concerned ministry's prerogative
• Third-party Impact Assessments (2017, 2025) drove enhancements: 12-language multilingual support (English + 11 Indian languages), a dedicated mobile app, stronger digital/social-media outreach and periodic UI upgrades
