Bharat 6G Alliance and Spectrum Roadmap for 6G in India

📌 Summary:

• The Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA), an industry-and-academia-led society, has grown to 90 members (as on 15 July 2026) spanning telecom operators, equipment makers, startups, R&D institutions and academia
• B6GA has set up seven working groups covering 6G technologies, spectrum, applications/use-cases/revenue, devices and components, green/sustainability and outreach
• Its spectrum working group submitted a report "Spectrum Roadmap for 6G in India"; the Department of Telecommunications has released the official Spectrum Roadmap for 6G services
• A three-year 6G Terahertz testbed is approved at SAMEER, Kolkata (an autonomous MeitY body) with IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati and IIT Patna, funded via the Telecom Technology Development Fund under Digital Bharat Nidhi; a high-data-rate line-of-sight link was demonstrated at IMC 2025
• India contributed at the ITU under the IMT-2030 (6G) framework, getting "ubiquitous connectivity" added as one of the six 6G usage scenarios; it also supports Indian participation in 3GPP, ITU and oneM2M through the TDIP scheme
