ICMR organises India's largest biomedical innovation and technology transfer event "Medical Innovations Patent Mitra: Innovators-to-Industry (I2I) Connect"

📌 Summary:

• ICMR (under the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare) organised "Medical Innovations Patent Mitra: Innovators-to-Industry (I2I) Connect" — India's largest biomedical innovation and technology transfer event — at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi
• The event established one of India's first structured platforms for biomedical innovation showcasing and technology transfer under the ICMR Medical Innovation Patent Mitra initiative
• 41 public health technologies were transferred from ICMR institutes/innovators to industry — including glycoconjugate and recombinant vaccines for Typhoid and Paratyphoid, and diagnostics for Japanese Encephalitis, Tuberculosis and Mpox
• First-ever transfer of well-characterised biomaterials — inactivated KFD (Kyasanur Forest Disease) and Chandipura viruses — to industry partners for research and vaccine manufacturing
• "Indian Biomedical Patent Landscape Report" and a "Technology Compendium" were released
• Over 100 technologies in diagnostics, therapeutics and medical devices were showcased by ICMR institutes, researchers and startups
• Aim: shift India from a consumer of health technologies to a global source of affordable healthcare solutions through stronger Public-Private partnership for Viksit Bharat 2047
