5th India-Tanzania Joint Trade Committee Meeting Held in Dar es Salaam

• 5th India-Tanzania JTC held on 29-30 April 2026 in Dar es Salaam; co-chaired by Commerce Secretary Shri Rajesh Agrawal and Tanzania Permanent Secretary Amb. Dr. Samwel Shelukindo
• Bilateral trade: USD 9.02 billion in FY2025-26, up from USD 8.64 billion in FY2024-25
• Key areas: trade in local currencies, long-term business visas, pharma regulation, mining & gemstones, education & skills
• IIT Madras Zanzibar highlighted as growing hub for higher education in science and tech in East Africa
• India Lines of Credit to Tanzania: exceed USD 1.1 billion for water infrastructure; to benefit 6 million+ people across 24 towns
• New cooperation: aquaculture, digital health (India Stack, DigiLocker, real-time payments), agri technology transfer, renewable energy, shipbuilding
• India offered locomotives, rolling stock, railway infrastructure modernization support
• Next (6th) JTC to be held in New Delhi
