NITI Aayog convenes stakeholder consultation on implementation of the SHANTI Act 2025

• NITI Aayog convened a stakeholder consultation on implementation of the SHANTI Act 2025 on 10 July 2026 at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi — bringing together government, research institutions and industry on the operational framework of the landmark nuclear energy legislation
• Chaired by Prof. Abhay Karandikar (Member, NITI Aayog); participants included Secretary (Ministry of Power), Chairperson CEA, CMD NTPC, and officials of DAE and AERB
• Pillar 1 — Legislative & Regulatory Framework: draft rules and regulations under the Act, related FDI policy provisions, statutory compliance mechanisms, and attracting foreign capital while safeguarding domestic interests
• Pillar 2 — Finance, Insurance & Public Perception: financial and risk-mitigation frameworks, suitable insurance arrangements for long-term nuclear projects, and strategies for public awareness, community trust and acceptance of nuclear energy
• Pillar 3 — Manufacturing, Operations & Capacity Building: strengthening domestic manufacturing, operational readiness, supply-chain resilience, and skilled workforce development for industrial scaling
• Stakeholder inputs will feed into strengthening the implementation framework of the Act
