National Workshop on 'Tiger Reintroduction: Opportunities & Challenges' concludes in Alwar, Rajasthan

📌 Summary:

• Union Environment Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav inaugurated (28 June 2026) the National Workshop on "Tiger Reintroduction: Opportunities & Challenges" at Alwar, Rajasthan
• It brought together 12 Chief Wildlife Wardens and 18 Field Directors from States and Tiger Reserves
• Aim: deliberate a science-based national framework for tiger reintroduction, supplementation and recovery in tiger-deficient landscapes
• Technical sessions covered active management of tiger populations, prey augmentation, habitat restoration, and landscape connectivity
• Drew on lessons from past tiger and cheetah reintroduction programmes
• Attended by senior officials including DG, International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA), and Member Secretary, National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA)
