• President Droupadi Murmu and PM Narendra Modi remotely laid the foundation stone of Bharat Coal Gasification & Chemicals Limited (BCGCL)'s Coal-to-Ammonium Nitrate Project on 20 June 2026 at Lakhanpur, Jharsuguda district, Odisha
• BCGCL is a Joint Venture between Coal India Limited (CIL, 51%) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL, 49%); Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) contributes ~350 acres and will supply 0.79 MTY washed coal and 1.19 MTY reject from its Ib Valley washery
• Aligned with the National Coal Gasification Mission, the project will produce ~0.66 MTPA Technical Grade Ammonium Nitrate using indigenously developed Pressurised Fluidised Bed Gasification (PFBG) technology
• Estimated investment over Rs 25,000 crore; received Single Window Clearance from Odisha's HLCA and Rs 1,350 crore financial incentive from the Ministry of Coal
