Amit Shah Chairs Review Meeting on Yamuna Rejuvenation

📌 Summary:

• Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a review on Yamuna rejuvenation, calling for an integrated action plan across Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh (not piecemeal efforts), with the three states jointly ensuring the river's standard ecological (eco) flow
• An MoU will be signed between the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB): dairy/gaushala dung will be diverted to biogas and manure plants to stop dairy waste entering the Yamuna
• De-silting: 97% of the targeted 28.57 lakh MT of silt removed (rest by June 15); the silt is to be reused in manufacturing projects to prevent wash-back during the rains
• Sewage infrastructure: 129 Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) completed across the three states, with 59 more by end-2027; continuous monitoring of BOD, COD and TSS mandated for all drains, industrial waste and discharges
• Directed fixing execution dates and long-term maintenance for every project; progress to be reviewed every 20 days; CETPs/dairy-waste plants to be built with future needs in mind
