• A Curtain Raiser event was held on 13 May 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, for the upcoming India-Africa Business Dialogue (IABD) & Exhibition, to be held on the sidelines of the 4th India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS-IV); chaired by Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal
• India-Africa bilateral trade reached USD 93.69 billion in 2025-26, up 14.39% year-on-year; India's exports to Africa were USD 45.42 billion and imports USD 48.27 billion
• The Minister noted the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), valued at nearly USD 3.4 trillion, alongside India's ~USD 4 trillion economy, offers scope to diversify supply chains and move beyond raw-material trade to higher-value manufacturing and integrated value chains
• Key sectors identified for collaboration: renewable energy, green hydrogen, green ammonia, electric mobility, digitalisation, telecommunications, agriculture and food processing, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, critical minerals, defence production and emerging technologies
• With nearly two-thirds of India's and Africa's populations under 35, focus was placed on skilling, startups, innovation ecosystems and talent development; India articulated the ambition of doubling India-Africa trade by 2030 via stronger South-South trade corridors and climate-smart partnerships
• The IABD & Exhibition will convene policymakers, industry leaders, investors and innovators around themes such as climate action, infrastructure and connectivity, digital innovation and AI, manufacturing and MSME partnerships, and healthcare
